Yesterday marked the arrival of Mobilegeddon – or, in simpler terms, The Day Google Made a Big Change to its Search Algorithm.

What does this mean for your website?

If it’s mobile-friendly: nothing. You can sit back and relax. If it’s NOT mobile-friendly: you have some work to do, as Google will now be making mobile-friendliness a bigger factor in how search results are ranked on mobile phones.

This was big in the news this week as April 21 approached. However, in a rare move Google had actually announced their plans to adjust the algorithm back in February to give web developers a chance to ensure their sites were as mobile friendly as possible, or to make it so. With nearly half of all Google searches being done with smartphones, the change certainly makes sense – if we’re searching on our phones, we definitely want to see results that are optimized for mobile viewing.

If you’re not sure if your site is mobile-friendly, Google has provided a quick and easy way to find out with their Mobile-Friendly Test. Simply enter your site’s URL and let Google tell you whether or not your site would be considered mobile-friendly.

If your website isn’t mobile-friendly, don’t stress out – we can help!

Our team will modernize your website and make sure that only is it mobile-friendly, but that it also has the other elements it needs to rank higher and be seen on Google.
